Our History

Acrecity Medics was established following the identification of a health care deficit by its founding partners and the need to bridge the widening gap by providing bespoke, best-in-class, value for money health care services to the growing urban populations in Africa.   Acrecity also aims to provide opportunities to burgeoning medical talents to fulfill their ambitions of reaching great heights in medicine.

The name Acre (pronounced ӓ´krǝ) is inspired by the ancient port city of the same designation situated in Western Asia on the south-eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Acre is one of a few ancient cities in the world to have been continuously inhabited through the ages by Christians, Muslims, Jews and Arabs. Greek historians refer to the city as Ake, meaning “cure. “According to Greek mythology, Heracles found curative herbs in the city of Ake to heal his wounds. Acre also has phonetic similarities with Ghana’s capital city Accra where Acrecity Medics Limited is headquartered.
